womad 2003
oops.. i realised that my last blog sounded really bleak.. ok, it's really meant to be seen in a positive way, if you know what i mean?
broke the monotony of the stay-home weekend at the very enjoyable and crowded Womad 2003 last night, braving the smoke, haze and midnight downpour to watch the funky fusion Afro Celts, melbourne-based mish-mash musicians The Cat Empire, latino band Los de Abajo, amongst others, attended a drum-dance workshop by the very fun Badenya les Freres Coulibaly from Burkino Faso, and saw the ultra-cool and ultra bo-chap Nitin Sawhney in person at the DJ Club set (wow wow!) There was a visible absence of "yellow-skin" performancers, as usual..
I think Fort Canning still remains one of my all-time favourite outdoor performance places..
sacrificed rollerblading today to rest my assaulted eyes..
