hooray! i'm un (mblast)ed
some help from a friend and sheer tenacity on my end.. i've blasted (pun intended) away the bug!
i don't think i've ever appreciated my computer that much.. even when the internet is running on a 56kbps modem..
Here's the basic steps of how i did it:
1. Enable your built- in Windows XP Internet Firewall (how?)
2. Update Windows with the patch. Download and install the latest operating system patches from Microsoft Corporation (how?)
3. Download Removal tool (either from Symantec or McAfee)
4. Set Windows XP System Restore to Off (how?)
5. Run Removal tool (go to Start Menu, Run, Browse)
6. Set Windows XP System Restore back to On (how?)
7. Update your anti-virus software (mcafee/norton antivirus) - new variants are appearing...
8. Done. Phew!
