Mars closest in 60,000 years
the story.
the exact date: August 26 2003
the extract:
Mars hasn't had as close a brush with Earth since September 12, 57617 BC, when Neanderthals still ruled, but modern man had begun to make inroads
still not convinced??
It will be a last-chance proposition for all alive today: Mars won't be as close again until August 28, 2287.
wow!! doesn't that make you just want to see it?? no matter how irrational the feeling?? :p
reminds me of Halley's Comet when it last went by in 1986. with its next return scheduled for AD 2062, which many people at that time didn't think they will live to see, there was a mad scramble for telescopes, though almost none of these layfolks knew about this particular comet (or even comets, for that matter) prior to the news reports.. haha..
