Check out this new coffee-table style cookbook by Terry Tan (famous TV chef and author of several cookbooks) and son, Chris Tan (former editor of Wine & Dine).
it's a wonderful collection of some 100 classic and modern local recipes - from nasi lemak, laksa, hokkien prawn mee and hainanese chicken rice, to creative versions of roti prata and other equally yummy and truly "singaporean" dishes.. there is even a nice encyclopedic list of ingredients, detailed description of utensils and implements, and useful notes on techniques...
best part is, the food photography by Edmund Ho, is delightfully lomo-esque and buying it for the pictures alone already makes it worthwhile...
i'm getting one copy for myself.. :)
